Main outlet in Kaprun declared Europe’s best shop
EuroShop RetailDesign Award 2010

Opened at the end of 2008, Intersport Bründl’s main shop has set new standards in terms of architecture and shop design. The polarising design by Blocher Blocher Partners - Stuttgart was declared Europe’s best store at the trade fair of the National Retail Federation in New York.

The international jury selected the world’s three best stores from a host of candidate outlets using a set of criteria which encompassed design, a holistic (store) concept, a clear assortment message, the clear addressing of target groups and a consistent corporate design. Intersport Bründl is receiving this international award alongside El Palacio De Hierro, Guadalajara, Mexico and Elord Golf Fashion, Seoul, South Korea.

In justifying its decision the jury stated: “The shop is inspired by the typical alpine landscape and at the same time establishes a contrast to the familiar surroundings with its polarising and urban architectural style. The man-made landscape of the shopping environment is linked by a glass roof to the real environment outdoors. The perforated metal slats sometimes appear diaphanous and sometimes completely close. The store has developed into a communicative meeting point and creates aesthetic values. The building itself perfectly incorporates the philosophy of the company, which is to convey the joy of nature and sport to customers, and to make them into fans.”

The members of the jury for the EuroShop RetailDesign Award 2010:
