Trail running is the very definition of full-body training. There’s a simple rule of thumb: to stay as light as possible and avoid having to lug unnecessary ballast around with you, only take the essentials with you. You should also ensure you are as safe as possible on the trail. Here are a few valuable pointers when choosing your equipment:
- Safety gear: In case of emergency, stow a mobile phone, headlamp and potentially a thermal blanket in your trail-running rucksack.
- For an added energy boost: In addition to plenty of water, and depending on the trail, you should also consider bringing a snack or energy bar with you.
- Trail-running clothes: A wind- and rain jacket, lightweight trail running shorts or a trail running skirt as well as a functional, breathable shirt are ideal.
