In the heart of the Alps
In the area around Kaprun there are numerous hiking trips ranging from gentle family walks to alpine challenges. On the way rustic alpine huts invite you to rest and enjoy your trip.
You will find easier hikes at Maiskogel and Schmittenhöhe. A hike to the summit of Kitzenhorn, which stands 3,203m above sea-level, is spectacular but requires a head for heights and sure-footedness.

To the top by cable car
In order to reach the summit of Kitzsteinhorn without great exertion, take the cable car. It will transport you 3000m into the world of peaks, up to 3,029m. From there, a secure path leads to the highest point.
Another possibility to reach the alpine mountain world with ease is the Großglockner High Alpine Road. Beautiful hiking trails branch off from carparks along the road. You can also reach these using public transport.
Even if you choose a comfortable mode of ascent, and then plunge into the outdoor fun – the right equipment and non-slip mountaineering boots will ensure that you are suitably prepared. In the Bründl sport shops in Kaprun we look forward to your visit before your first hike.
