Snowshoes - everything you need to know
AT BRÜNDL SPORTS, YOU WILL FIND SNOWSHOES IN A FULL RANGE OF SIZES. FROM SIZE 35 FOR WOMEN, FROM SIZE 41 FOR MEN.
A decisive factor in determining the size of snowshoes you need is your personal body weight. In that way, you won’t sink into the snow during your hike. The actual shoe size itself isn’t so vital since you can adjust the fit of the shoe with the strap.
This is how a snowshoe is built:
- Teeth: Sharp teeth mounted on the underside provide firm, safe grip in steep and icy terrain, minimizing the risk of slipping.
- Bindings: The bindings are similar to those of snowboards – with a BOA system in front, a strap in the back. In that way, you will be able to employ normal motion to make your way through the winter countryside.
- Poles: So as not to lose your balance while snowshoeing, poles are a must-have!
How & where will you find the best snowshoe tours to make your winter dream come true?
Snowshoes are mainly intended for snowy alpine meadows in flat terrain and soft powder snow. Even if you are not exploring on skis, it is important for you to stay informed about current avalanche conditions. If you already have some experience on snowshoes, you might also wish to consider more difficult tours in higher, steeper terrain.
Most local tourist offices, such as those in Zell am See and Schladming, are able to offer a wide selection of snowshoe tours that provide a great opportunity for your very first tour. Our shop employees also know the surrounding countryside like the backs of their hands and will be happy to share their personal tips and advice with you.
