A Lookback at the Leonidas Sports Gala 2023

Rookie of the Year presented by Bründl Sports

For the first time, some 800 guests from the worlds of sports, business, culture, and politics gathered at a new venue for the Leonidas Gala. At the invitation of the Salzburger Nachrichten newspaper, the most successful athletes from Salzburg province were celebrated and honored on March 30^th at the Brandboxx in Salzburg.

Ski jumping star Stefan Kraft was awarded the Golden Lion for best Salzburg athlete, just like last year. The Golden Lion for women went to mountain biker Valentina Höll. The double Olympic champion in sailing Hans-Peter Steinacher was also recognized for his lifetime sporting achievements.

For several years now, the Golden Lion for the best up-and-coming athlete, the “Rookie of the Year”, has been awarded personally by Christoph Bründl. This year, track-and-field athlete and skeleton racer Sarah Baumgartner was honored as the best young athlete and thus “Rookie of the Year”.
