What can you expect?

Two eventful days on the mountain with the best opportunity to test the latest touring skis and bindings from Völkl and Marker on tour. Ortovox will ensure your safety and provide you with avalanche equipment for the entire weekend, including the new AVABAG LiTRIC electronic avalanche backpack.

The prize includes an overnight stay in the Naturfreundehaus Sonnblick and an overnight stay in the Zittelhaus on the Hohe Sonnblick including half board. Depending on the weather and avalanche situation, you will climb the Hohe Sonnblick with two certified mountain guides and freeride pro athlete Nadine Wallner and spend the night in the Zittelhaus refuge at the summit at 3,106 m. On the second day, you will ski down to the Zirmsee in Carinthia and then conquer another ski tour classic, the 3,254 m high Hocharn.

The motto of the days is "Magic Moments" and "Safe on the mountain". Our mountain guides will give you practical tips and tricks on how to move safely in open terrain, how to assess the avalanche situation on site using the avalanche report and which ascent and descent route you should choose. Nadine Wallner will tell exciting stories from her career as a freeride pro and swing down the mountain with you.

ORTOVOX will provide you with the complete ORTOVOX safety equipment on loan for these days: Avalanche transceiver, shovel, probe and an AVABAG LiTRIC backpack, which you can test extensively on both days.

VÖLKL and MARKER will provide you with the latest touring skis and bindings on loan for two days, suitable for all conditions and the best ascent and descent performance on the mountain.

What do you need to bring?

You will be moving in open, alpine terrain. Safe handling of your ski touring equipment and a fitness level of 5-6 hours or 1,600 m ascent/descent is a prerequisite. You should also be able to ski safely in all types of snow and on slopes of 30-35 degrees. You must carry your own overnight luggage for one night to and from the Zittelhaus on the Hohe Sonnblick in your touring rucksack.

When?

The weekend takes place from March 22-24, 2024. Depending on the weather and avalanche conditions, it will be decided whether the tour to the Hohe Sonnblick and Hocharn is possible. Otherwise an alternative tour will be planned.

Where?

The meeting point is on friday afternoon at our flagship store in Kaprun. Here you will receive your test equipment from Ortovox, Völkl and Marker on request and the equipment will be perfectly adapted to you. Afterwards, you will drive together to Rauris / Kolm Saigurn to the Lenzanger parking lot, from where you will make a short ascent to the Naturfreundehaus. You will end the evening with a cozy dinner and some insights into avalanche training and how to use your avalanche equipment. On Saturday you will then climb the Hohe Sonnblick and spend the night at the refuge on the summit.
